Advent and Christmas

AT CHRIST OUR REDEEMER

This Advent

ADVENT IS A SEASON OF LONGING AND ANTICIPATION.

This Advent season, we come together with all of our human experiences. With sadness in our past, confusion in our present, and uncertainty in our future, we look to a Story that has been written for us and to us.

We come in trust, longing to meet the King who promises to return to His people once again, to make all things right and all things new — to bring us to a world absent of tears, sorrow, animosity, hurts, sickness, and death. And for this, we lean into the Story of His first Advent, when He came in unexpected form in the humble form of a baby without kingly privileges. Come join us this Advent season to join in with our singing, our hearing, our longing, and our being together here at Christ Our Redeemer.

Advent Sermon Series: The Mothers of Jesus

For the four Sundays preceding Christmas, we join in for our Advent series. This year, we look at the mothers of Jesus — those listed in the genealogy recorded for us in Matthew 1:1-17. Tim Keller likens one’s genealogy in the first century to our modern understanding of references in a resume. These were the people that Jesus represented and came for. For each Sunday in Advent, we will looking at the stories of each of these remarkable women through how they longed for and pointed to the coming Messiah. Join us each Sunday for this special season.

Christmas Eve: Lessons and Carols

On Christmas Eve, we will come together for a time of reading, singing, and reflecting from 4:00-5:30pm. There will be a short homily followed by selective Scripture readings and Christmas carols lead by both our children and worship team, as our whole church comes together to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

There will be snacks and refreshments provided after the service, which we’d love for you to stay and enjoy with us. Invite a neighbor and a friend, as we are joined together in the Story of Jesus.
